Since I
ended my last workout series I have joined a gym (something I have not done in
many years). I never really cared about
paying for a membership or making time to go.
I felt like changing it up this year and decided I wanted to start
lifting some weights again, nothing major just wanted to tone up a little
bit. So once LM Combat was over, I joined
Planet Fitness. I have to be honest, the
Planet Fitness commercials really helped me make this
choice. Only kidding, a good friend of
mine has been going there for years and has nothing but good things to say
about it. Planet is also somewhat on the
way to work, so with my ever changing afternoon schedule, going before work has
been such a joy.
For a
while now I have wanted to do 2 workout series a year, one in the late winter
(which has always been when I kick my butt back into shape after the holidays)
and another sometime in the fall. After
doing some research I think I am leaning toward doing P90x. I have heard good things about it and like
everything I am reading but I don’t really know anyone who has done it. I love workouts that keep your heart rate up
high and don’t give you much time for rests.
Yes it is terrible when you are in it but the results are completely
worth it. I am a Health and Physical
Education major, and from my classes in Anatomy & Physiology and
Kinesiology I have built up a belief in muscle confusion. Not letting your body and muscles know what
it happening that day is a good thing.
Doing this in the past for me has always worked better than doing the
same circuit day in day out. This is one
of the beliefs of Tony Horton and in his deciding to create P90X. If any of you have done this workout series
before please comment I would love to hear to thoughts about it.
